Facilities Management
Managing a care home extends to managing the building and its grounds. Ensuring the care home is maintained to meet the National Minimum Care Standards Act 2001.
Engaging
When engaging with Affinity Care Management we will initially carry out an overview of the care home to establish:
- The layout of the home is suitable for its stated purpose; it is accessible, safe and well-maintained; and that it meets service users’ individual and collective needs in a comfortable and homely way
- That the building complies with the requirements of the local fire service and environmental health department
- That the grounds are tidy, safe, attractive and accessible to the maximum number of service users
Contractor Performance
Managing the facilities of the care home does not just include monitoring and checking the standard of work completed by contractors, but does extend to:
- Meeting with and agreeing performance standards with all contractors providing facilities-related services within your premises
- Regularly monitoring contractor performance against agreed standards
- Where necessary re-tendering contracts to ensure value for money is being achieved
- Ensuring contractors comply with current Health & Safety regulations whilst on site
- Receiving and checking contractor invoices. Forwarding invoices to you for payment if correct, or dealing with queries if incorrect
- Maintaining accurate records of invoices passed for inclusion in the service charge reconciliation
Health And Safety
Part of the overall facilities management is advise you of any serious matters relating to the building and the grounds that could have an adverse effect on the residents, staff or company - which include:
- Ensuring the building complies with current workplace regulations
- Guaranteeing full compliance with fire regulations for health and safety
- Keeping company up-to-date with its responsibilities
